After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

I'm not having folder issues, only folder content issues, for some reason.

I've sync'd my Outlook inbox with my sbcglobal.net (Yahoo) account multiple times today, without a problem, but I almost immediately return to "Work Offline" status to try to avoid the weirdness. I confess to a bit of paranoia at this point!

Outlook on Mac is a different program. I deleted and reconnected Yahoo 2X. It would, on new install, add the folders automatically, as it should. Then after a disconnect / re-sync and reload, Yahoo SOMETIMES will try and add those folders again. Clearly a communication issue between Outlook and Yahoo.

I initially tried Yahoo's chat support. I sent screen shots and everything. They blamed Microsoft of course. It started for me immediately after the upgrade of Outlook/Office. That this is happening with an OLDER version of Outlook is NEW, and does point the finger back to Yahoo. The two need to speak and figure this out. Yahoo browser email and through the app are pathetic. They are missing so many important features that they are not really a long term option. What OS are you using on your Mac? Do you have any extensions/add-ons that load on launch? Or Antivirus? I have a number of these things. I use Bitdefender and thought it might be a piece of the equation. I have some esoteric ones, but only a few are in frequent or constant internet communication that I would think might be a cause.

FYI, I use IMAP. Didn't know if POP3 was a problem too.

If all this disappearing of Yahoo emails (not the folders) and Yahoo downloading the mail again and/or reinstalling Yahoo in your Outlook 365 account for the MAC has resulted in duplicate mail folders - try this to get rid of the duplicates.

With your Outlook open but offline go into Outlook Settings, click accounts and delete the Yahoo account (in my case Epix.net). When done, click add a new account and add your Yahoo account back in. That should get rid if the duplicates but not the initial problem of the disappearing/reappearing Yahoo emails.

Another FYI. Outlook on my Windows 10 machine, which includes the same Yahoo account, Outlook/Yahoo works just fine.
