I can't believe I have to ask something so dumb but how to I make Outlook ask me every time where to save the email attachments that I am downloading instead of automatically putting them in the Downloads folder?

Outlook | Windows | Classic Outlook for Windows | For home

I have the same issue. Nothing comes up in any of the MSFT or Outlook Help.

I think I found the Save As fix, but it only works in the browser version, not in the desktop app:

In an email with an attachment, mouse over the attachment, click on the Downward arrow at the right of the attachment (should display 'More Actions' rollover)

Right-click on the "Save to One Drive" and you will get an old school right-click menu with a Save as option.

    Good luck to us all!

My work around, as well, was to return to the previous version with the switch in the top right corner of the app. The functions are simplified, and some might even say it looks more proper for non-commercial rather than professional use.

However, it might be more in-sync with the Outlook for Web -side. Admins will have easier methods to add Outlook policies and more ways to add companywide email signatures etc etc. Perhaps.

Just want to re-up the fact that this is truly terrible design, and seems to be more evidence that Microsoft knows the only reason anyone uses Outlook is because they're locked into by their organizations. This is basic functionality-- it is absurd that they have no solution, and their tech support doesn't even seem to know what;s going on.

Same issue. Back to the old version I guess! The other issue with the new version is that if you sort the inbox by name, you cannot type the letters for the name you are looking for to quickly get to 'c' names for example. You have to scroll. new version is not good!
