I can't believe I have to ask something so dumb but how to I make Outlook ask me every time where to save the email attachments that I am downloading instead of automatically putting them in the Downloads folder?

Outlook | Windows | Classic Outlook for Windows | For home

I have the same issue and its annoying to having to copy every single download from the downloads folder to the folder of your choice.

Same here. Frustrating as hell. But at least I'm not alone.

Changing the download folder only worked for the current execution for me. I was able to fix this for good by using Regedit as explained here:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/troubleshoot/data-files/how-to-change-the-folder-where-emails-and-attachments-saved

Basically, it's changing the value of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\DefaultPath.

Of course, the Office version in the path ("16.0") may vary.

The solution from Sherry DOES NOT work in Google Chrome. I have the option turned on to ask me where to download. This works everywhereI download something in Chrome except Outlook (browser version). It does not prompt , just saves in Downloads. 😡
