I was having an issue figuring out how the spell check worked. My coworker said when you are in a New Message window, and the Message tab, at the top far right of the ribbon, click the "..." and go down to Editor, and then Editor Settings.

At first, when I tried this, Editor was greyed out, but it might have been because I was already in the middle of composing an email. When I opened a new message I was able to get to the Editor Settings.

All the settings were already enabled, but it seemed I had to open the Editor settings at least once for it to "activate" Now spell check works in my Outlook.

Right-clicking a misspelled word won't work. You have to left-click the word to see the spell-check suggestions.

    Alton,

    Well done. You have cracked the issue in New Outlook of Editor not being available (greyed out) and not offering spelling corrections. Simple. As you say , in New Outlook go top right to Settings wheel - General - Privacy and Data - Privacy Settings - Connected Experiences - Experiences that analyse your Content - Turn On. That is all.

    This then shows Editor on the Ribbon and when you compose an email you can get spelling suggestions etc.

    Sadly huge amount of frustrated people like myself before your post simply not aware of this and MS getting huge discontent.

    Hi Barry! This is months later so I am not sure if you were able to revert to old Outlook (if so, please share because I despise this new one, but whenever I open the older app, it auto opens the NEW outlook).

    BUT if you haven't, I found out Spell Check---

    Settings

    General

    Accessibility

    Keyboard Shortcuts, change this to Outlook for Web---- this returns the function of right clicking a red underlined word to be provided a list of suggestions.

    Thank you for your feedback, but your solution didn't work for me. I cleanly get all the way to the end of your instructions but I get "Turn on optional experiences" on the final screen, which was already turned. I'm using Windows 11, which I also hate. I can open the New Outlook Editor, but it doesn't catch any misspelled words. Completely useless!!! I go between old and new Outlook, because I can't get a preview to look at any potential spam in old Outlook. The preview works on other old Outlook folders.
