I was having an issue figuring out how the spell check worked. My coworker said when you are in a New Message window, and the Message tab, at the top far right of the ribbon, click the "..." and go down to Editor, and then Editor Settings.

At first, when I tried this, Editor was greyed out, but it might have been because I was already in the middle of composing an email. When I opened a new message I was able to get to the Editor Settings.

All the settings were already enabled, but it seemed I had to open the Editor settings at least once for it to "activate" Now spell check works in my Outlook.

Right-clicking a misspelled word won't work. You have to left-click the word to see the spell-check suggestions.

    Not being able to highlight a word to spellcheck is a HUGE inconvenience. As Outlook constantly saves a DRAFT, if I leave the message to respond to something else, then go back to the email draft I was working on, a misspelled word is red-dot underlined but NOTHING I do will bring up a suggestion for the correct spelling.

    This is a feature EVERY piece of software I've have ever used has this basic feature.

    Microsoft, come on now!

    That did not work for me. Opening in a new window did not change anything. I also was not able to do the work around by going into General-Privacy Data-Privacy. When I go into Privacy Data tab I only get an option of Search History. I had my IT people working on this today and they said there is no way to get spellcheck on the new version.

    Alton,

    Well done. You have cracked the issue in New Outlook of Editor not being available (greyed out) and not offering spelling corrections. Simple. As you say , in New Outlook go top right to Settings wheel - General - Privacy and Data - Privacy Settings - Connected Experiences - Experiences that analyse your Content - Turn On. That is all.

    This then shows Editor on the Ribbon and when you compose an email you can get spelling suggestions etc.

    Sadly huge amount of frustrated people like myself before your post simply not aware of this and MS getting huge discontent.

    The new version of MS Outlook that is pestering the **** out of me on "mail" is a terrible version. Why can't microsoft make things as easy as Apple? Jesus just put a **** button that says "spell check" so we can use it.
