No 'SAVE AS' option for attachments in new Outlook desktop app

Dear All,

Outlook offered to switch my application to the new Outlook version (there is a switch item below the window close button).

It looks like the in-browser version and works better than the former, but it has a missing option in the attachments drop-down menu, called 'save as'.

We get a lot of documents in our emails, which should be saved in different projects' locations on a local hard drive. The in-browser version and the former desktop app have this option but this new app does not.

How can I add this function back again?

    I'm also having this problem. New Outlook looks great and has some improvements over Original Outlook, but being unable to save files to my desktop makes it useless.

    I used to be able to drag and drop attachments from email, too, and I'm not able to do that either.

    I'm going back to Original Outlook. I'm very disappointed.

    Will MS allow the original Outlook to survive? I doubt it. History shows that they stop older versions of apps to force users to switch to new ones.

    I can see this was reported almost a year ago, but the New Outlook was just forced on my company and the problem continues. Is there any plans to address this or is this chat just to vent?

    unfortunately there has been no updates or changes to how Outlook manages attachments so yes, this is currently a place to vent. some people give us their workaround but i think we're all savvy enough to have figured that out a long time ago. we don't need anyone to give us a temporary fix. we'd like for MS to just give us a basic function of saving a document to the location of our choice. something that's been part of Outlook since it was created. right now we have the choice to stay on the current version but that won't last and we'll soon be forced to change and learn to live with what we're given. One Outlook is standard on Windows 11 beginning of 2024. #defeated

    I have commented on this forum too about the issue a couple of times. They need to fix this. I think once they started going "cloud" based with Outlook (new version, even though it's "on" your desktop), the functionality of dragging to and from your Outlook to your "real" computer, as well as the saving option to your actual PC/network, proved too difficult for the programmers to figure out how to bridge that gap.

    I have a solution. Now that they have launched their AI tool, Copilot, the programmers just need to ask Copilot to program the solution for them.

    Copilot Input: Write code to have the "new" Outlook have the same file attachment saving functionality as the "old" Outlook. 😂
