No 'SAVE AS' option for attachments in new Outlook desktop app

Dear All,

Outlook offered to switch my application to the new Outlook version (there is a switch item below the window close button).

It looks like the in-browser version and works better than the former, but it has a missing option in the attachments drop-down menu, called 'save as'.

We get a lot of documents in our emails, which should be saved in different projects' locations on a local hard drive. The in-browser version and the former desktop app have this option but this new app does not.

How can I add this function back again?

    The problem with that solution is that (in my experience) once you switch to New Outlook, it makes switching back a problem because the software hangs all the time. I'm about to Uninstall and Reinstall everything to try and fix it.

    Outlook MUST have a Save As function. The amount of extra steps this causes me is absolutely ridiculous. I need to be able to Drag/Drop attachments. This is something even Gmail can accomplish. I can open Gmail (in Bing, no less), and open an email with attachments. I can click on the attachment and drag it to a Folder on my OneDrive-enabled, Windows 11 laptop and it saves just fine. How is it possible that I can't achieve this inside Outlook, the Gold Standard of email clients?

    I'm disappointed. This is terrible.

    Why no fix microsoft, this is an extremely important feature for anyone who wants to you know, SCAN DOCUMENTS!?!?!!?

    Hi,

    Simple :

    1. double click on the attachement to open the preview.
    2. click the print option.
    3. then press ESC button.
    4. the little DISK icon is on the right top corner :

    That is still rather clumsy, and only really works if you're hoping to save a PDF. If you have received a Word or Excel file, for example, that sequence results in a saved PDF, but not a saved version of the working document. What we need here is a SAVE AS button, or simply the ability to Drag and Drop (which I can do with gmail, so I know it's possible for a web-based software to interact with desktop-installed Window apps like Explorer).
