No 'SAVE AS' option for attachments in new Outlook desktop app

Dear All,

Outlook offered to switch my application to the new Outlook version (there is a switch item below the window close button).

It looks like the in-browser version and works better than the former, but it has a missing option in the attachments drop-down menu, called 'save as'.

We get a lot of documents in our emails, which should be saved in different projects' locations on a local hard drive. The in-browser version and the former desktop app have this option but this new app does not.

How can I add this function back again?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

István

    Hi folks,

Just got around to it in a different way. Try changing the browser setting for downloads and it worked for me.

settings - downloads- "Ask where to save each file before downloading" - tick this ON.

    hope this helps

Is there any point in continuing this discussion? MS obviously either does not care about what I presume they think is a small minority of users or and unable to fix this minor flaw. I have been following this topic since the beginning and while there have been a few half-baked promises of action, nothing happens. In my case it is not just saving attachments that is the problem, I also need to save emails to local folders on my hard drive. I have given up hope of anything happening. Thank God for alternatives like Thunderbird.

It's not showing up here yet. New Outlook still doesn't allow me to save files (they get saved to nowhere - I can't find them) or drag and drop them. I can't even ACCESS the files I get as attachments. I'm begging, please fix this.

Now when I receive an attachment and click the down arrow, I get two choices:

    Preview

When I choose Preview, the attachment opens (if it's an Office file, it opens in the appropriate app. If it's something else, I can view it but that's it). At the top of the attachment it says "Save to OneDrive".

Save to OneDrive - (company name)

When I choose this option (or go to it via Preview) the attachment is apparently saved to OneDrive... SOMEWHERE.

I'm not prompted to save it to a particular folder (for instance, for a project I'm working on). I can't save it to Downloads. The file just goes somewhere, I have no idea where. It's definitely not in Downloads - I looked.

I can't save the attachment anywhere (at least, anywhere I can find it - including Downloads). I can't drag and drop it. I can't open the attachment and save it.

If it's an Office file, I can open it in the appropriate app and eventually get it to download onto my computer.

If it's something else (like a .png file), I can see it but I can't do ANYTHING with it. It won't open in the app I created it in (in this case, Photoshop). I can just view it, uneditable, in a black block.

HOW ARE PEOPLE WORKING WITH THIS? CAN ANY OF YOU FIND YOUR FILES? CAN YOU EDIT THE ONES THAT AREN'T OFFICE FILES?
