New Outlook - Auto Capitalization

Thanks @CraigT61. I see what you're saying now. Yes, mine behaves the same way as what you showed in your video. It's weird that it doesn't work with 2 spaces after the period. I almost always use 2 spaces after the period.

So, as long as you press space after you type something, it will capitalize it as long as there aren't 2 spaces before the word you want capitalized. This is not the issue that I was referring to because I'm pretty good about capitalizing my sentences myself but sometimes when I'm typing my name in my signature on a new line after "Thanks,", I would type it too fast and the first letter of my name wouldn't be capitalized but by pressing 'Enter', it would capitalize it on the old Outlook. I guess, now all I need to do is hit space after I type my name when that happens. Thank you for the video and explanation! Still sucks that it doesn't work with 2 spaces and that it doesn't capitalize 'i'.

Here is a Dropbox link to my rather pathetic video. But it shows New Outlook auto-cap'ing the first letter of each new sentence. It does not capitalize if two spaces are typed after the period. And it does not capitalize the letter i by itself. Other than that, it works every time for me.

I'll let you know when my new computer comes in next week. I think that I might be able to revert to the Classic Outlook and see if that might be the ticket.

I highly doubt your Outlook 365 aka Outlook (new) is auto capitalizing as you say it is. There is the setting in Microsoft Editor Settings after clicking the ellipsis (...) in the ribbon bar, "Enable auto capitalization" but that does not work (as others have said). This setting was enabled by default so I'm sure it is enabled on every user's Outlook (new) and yet, there are pages and pages of users responding who have this exact issue.

I'm not sure if you aren't understanding what all of us are referring to when we say that Outlook would always capitalize the first letter of the first word on a line after we press Enter (new line). It does not do this in Outlook 365 despite the setting that someone pointed out and I referred to above: 'Enable auto capitalization'

If it works for you would you mind posting a video of Outlook (new) capitalizing the first letter of the first word on a line after you press Enter?

I just returned from the Best Buy store. I gave it back to them. I just now ordered a new surface laptop only available on the ms business site with a non Snapdragon processor. It was $2700, but should be functional. I am glad i kept my surface pro 7. I do wish new ones had an sd slot like this one has. Having a 1 tb sd card in that slot has saved me a lot of confusion as I have terrible internet service at home and the ability to retain documents locally is a bonus. Thanks for your sympathy :-)
