'File' and other toolbars in new Outlook 2023

Please advise where I can find File and other toolbars such as Insert, Reference, etc in Outlook?. Currently I'm only seeing Home, View and Help toolbars.

    There is no "about" option to identify the app, It is "New Outlook".

    MS has nothing to say about all the Outlook windows, each with one memo, clogging my alt-tab display.

    Advice from other sources says there is a "Close all messages" under View. Not in my case.

    When I click the icon the display changes for a moment and then resumes the current task, I have to use alt-tab to get to Outlook .

    That is the Windows Mail icon. If you had mail and used Try new Outlook, you can turn it off to get back to Mail or Help > Go to Mail.

    Based on your screenshot above, you are using Windows Mail. If you use an outlook.com account, they are already on the server and will sync down. If you had local contacts, you need to recreate them.

    If you are using an IMAP account in new outlook, you should export the contacts to CSV regularly as you could lose them if you remove the account from outlook.

    Hi Alison

    Apologies about late response.

    This is the screen that shows when I open New Outlook on my new PC.

    From my limited investigation I believe this New Outlook window - layout, function buttons, settings, etc. is the same whether you access it from your device (PC in my case) or online via the internet.

    I have not received a definitive answer from either Microsoft or the Microsoft Community that actually overcomes the problem I have ie transferring my Contacts and Calendar from Windows Live Mail (on my old PC) to New Outlook.

    The email side of life is OK as the email feed from my internet service provider (ISP) is coming through correctly.

    I have finally resorted to inputting my contacts (200+) and calendar events (3000-4000+) in manually into New Outlook. (I need to keep the calendar events for business, legal and social purposes.) Fortunately I have retained my old PC and it is still operating OK'ish so I can access this information.

    I do not believe Microsoft has provided functionality that enables me to do this through any file transfer approach.

    If anyone reading this can prove me wrong on this comment I would welcome their input. Please do not reply saying use the File function. This does not exist In New Outlook !!
