Any time an appointment sits open for "x" amount of time (No reply or forward) Outlook wants me to "save changes". I havent noticed a problem with forwarding or replying.

Go to File -> Options -> Calendar -> Scroll to the bottom and uncheck "Show Meeting Insights" I literally just fixed this issue today. I've had it for multiple years, and finally got fed up enough to do some research. I was aided by this suggestion "Go to File -> Options -> Calendar and unchecking Show weather on Calendar". I couldn't find a weather option, but the Insights option intrigued me, since it's a more recent addition. I was not expecting it to work but was very pleased when I found that it did. I hope this can solve someone else's problem.
