When I open any appointment in outlook Calendar I have to save it before closing if I have locked my PC in between. Even If I did not change anything (applies to any invite also empty freshly created ones and also applies when outlook is started in safe mode + also applies on different PC / different account)

  1. Open Outlook calendar, and open any appointment
  2. Put laptop to lock mode (windows key + L)
  3. Log in again
  4. Click the 'X' icon to close the appointment
  5. Outlook will pop up an alert box "Want to save your changes? Yes | No | Cancel " and the user has to select something.](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/20b86f9d-1cc2-4011-8f4d-a64e9f945f58?platform=QnA&fud_access=wJJIheezUklbAN2ppeDns8cDNpYs3nCYjgitr%2bfFBh2dqlqMuW7np3F6Utp%2fKMltnRRYFtVjOMO5tpbpW9UyRAwvLeec5emAPixgq9ta07Dgnp2aq5eJbnfd%2fU3qhn54gvgJwJvybOaDZLdxxWbmUU55lRVcs%2b2rsZqD5C%2f2ugIy6sqE3bmcGNiEPEvYKI16fklw5WYaFGrnASySzjzYPBMvt%2bVOvAQMf93S5Ko5apovha8xkf2t4FEpnnplUjx6vzNpK1AJ%2bm5J3PVtyfBv2Ngxo%2bKQEU%2b1bEbIrW6CGfvnpbcta1O6MDU7%2b9Ea77rcFd7uju0GTB3L41UvMQuArmQC6FPPSvSN6qLyVexBhQGTMqZUIG5uwLawp5kn016qCxHiiHVoGPOhOPlZjc2pXoVl6o5NdZl4BiPgXi2mF4g%3d "filestore.community.support.microsoft.com")

Disabling the weather information, scaling equal, new profile did not help for me, any idea how to solve this?

NOTE: There is still no solution / fix for this issue

outlook desktop and the OWA is terrible anymore, does nothing but freeze up my whole computer, was a great app, now it's trying to do to much all the time in the background. and not being able to drag and drop from mail is about as unproductive and big of a oversight as it gets. tells you theses MS engineer don't have that in mind. I'm sure it all works out nice with our phones though. the only thing MS techs seem concerned with anymore is how it functions on mobile. rather then bringing your whole company to a halt because a simple drag and drop no longer works and lcking on a mail makes outlook freeze up, jump all over like a transformer etc, it's just sad anymore with this new web wrapper. and i don't have time to go around on 500 diff computers/users and try these fixes that don't work.

I have to echo what Funk says here. Plus, this issue has been outstanding with every version of Outlook I've used for the last 15 years or more.

Some quirk about "state change tracking" in either Windows or Outlook (or both) must be causing the problem.

Either no one at Microsoft has been able to get to the root cause in 15 years or, more likely, the issue is so fundamentally deep in the code that changing it is either impossible or not worth the risk to other operations that depend upon the "state change tracking" functions.

None of these solutions work. It does not make sense to me as to why clicking a meeting link wouldn't just be an action in view mode. I've also just left meeting invites open without clicking on links and I have to mark all items as save or discard changes.

For meetings I'm just an attendee of, this really shouldn't be a thing and I don't want to clutter my drafts folder by auto saving these. This really just sounds like a poor system design.
