    Dear Fnurk,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to support you.

Based on your description, I understand that you have a query " Outlook asks to save when closing appointments without any change ",After thorough research and test, I would like to provide you with the following information:

1.May I know if both client and web versions of Outlook have the same issue? Please log in to the Outlook Web App https://outlook.office.com/ and test here to see if there is the same situation.

If it could work normally on your web mail, the issue may be related to your client itself. Based on my research, any add-ins may cause it, it's recommended to restart your outlook in safe mode to check if the issue has any differences(Windows + R >type "Outlook.exe /safe">enter).

If you could work normally in safe mode, it's recommended to disable your add-ins gradually to check which one causes the issue(File>Options >Add-ins>COM add-ins, Go>uncheck the add-in to disable it).

If the issue still exists, considering corrupted outlook data file or profile may also cause it, it's recommended to create a new Outlook profile for testing(Control Panel>Mail>Show profiles>Add>readd your account) Do not delete the old profile, if this method does not work, switch back to the original, please refer to: Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support

    2.

If you are using multiple monitors, check to see if the display scale of each is the same.
If they are not, set them both to the same display scale.

(Right click on the desktop, "Display settings", "Size of text, apps, and items on this display")

For example, if you have two monitors with different display scales and the appointment window is opened on a monitor other than the one where the main Outlook window was first opened, you will be prompted to save the appointment even though you are not editing it. If you have multiple screens, please set display scale = 100%3.When you click on a link (e.g. to open a Zoom or Webex link) you have clicked into the body of the meeting causing the application goes into Edit mode. Once it's been in edit mode, it cannot be closed until you save or discard changes.

4.Go to File -> Options -> Calendar and unchecking Show weather on Calendar. If the weather changes while the appt is open, it prompts to save changes before you can close it. Hope this information is useful to you. If there is any progress on the issue, please update it with this post and we will do our best to help you. Thank you for your patience and cooperation, I wish you all the best!

stay healthy. Regards,Winter | Microsoft Community Moderator

see my feedback for each suggestion, none unfortunately did resolve theissue

1A not applicable, for web client, thats a totally different interface and there is no "x" to close it (you have to select delete or save)

1B safe mode issue still persist as already mentioned in my post

1C new profile also did not solve it

    1. Tried this before and set it both to 100% but issue still persists
    2. not applicable, its for every meeting even withouth links or any body test... just opening it and closing it won't show the message, however locking your machine in between will trigger the pop up
    3. tried this before but did not solve the issue

any other suggestions or diagnostics steps i can undetake? my outlook version is updated in my original post

and by the way: i've tried this on my colleagues outlook as well, and the same issue over there... so its not related to my PC only...

Same problem for me; and all the proposed solutions do not work. The display resolution/scaling is not applicable since the problem also occurs with a single laptop display.

    Dear Fnurk,

    Thank you for your reply.

The factors that contribute to this issue are diverse, so kindly ask you to try more things:

    a.
If the version of Outlook client is not latest, please also try to update it to be latest for better using experience, you can update it in File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.

    b.
It is recommended to diagnose calendar in Outlook via Support and recovery Assistant(SaRA) tool for Office 365.
Scan by using Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant - Outlook | Microsoft Learn
For detailed steps, please follow below: 1. Download SaRA in https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/.

    1. Select Outlook > I'm having problems with my calendar.

    c.
It is recommended you try the following tool for further troubleshooting. 1. Download CalCheck and extract the .zip folder. (**Note:**If Outlook client is 32-bit, CalCheck tool needs to be 32 bit)

    1. Run Command Prompt.
    2. Paste "cd [Path of CalCheck tool folder]" and press Enter, for detailed information, please follow the screenshot below:

    Image

    1. Paste "CalCheck -F -R -V" and press Enter.

    Image

    1. Delete all files in CalCheck folder, and delete the folder itself.
    2. Restart Outlook client.

If the issue persists, please update, we will try our best to assist. Your cooperation is appreciated.

    Best Regards, Winter

A: outlook indeed required an update, but also after the update problem is still there

B: downloaded SARA and however if you select problem with calendar you only can select three things not related to this issue... i tried all of them but none succeeded in a repair of the issue

C: run the steps, the calcheckerr report showed some meetings which contained errors (duplicate ones, or one with many appendices) tried to delete those and restarted outlook but also that did not result in any improvement

    any other suggestions?
