Outlook asks to save when closing appointments without any change

When I open any appointment in outlook Calendar I have to save it before closing if I have locked my PC in between. Even If I did not change anything (applies to any invite also empty freshly created ones and also applies when outlook is started in safe mode + also applies on different PC / different account)

  2. Put laptop to lock mode (windows key + L)
  3. Log in again
  4. Click the 'X' icon to close the appointment

Disabling the weather information, scaling equal, new profile did not help for me, any idea how to solve this?

    Same issue for years now here as well.

    I've taskkilled outlook in the past to make them go away vs having to constantly close one... click NO, close the next one, click NO over and over and over again.

    In my years of using outlook, this is one of the Rage inducing issues that has confounded me for years. Since this is a recent thread on this, I'm posting my two cents.

    Please do not prompt me to save changes to any calendar entry that I've opened when there have been no changes after my PC has been locked.

    I don't know if this will work for everyone, but I was able to find a workaround that I can live with. I habitually use the "Close [Window]" [X] in the upper right, but instead, I added the "Save & Close" shortcut to my custom ribbon.

    File --> Options --> Customize Ribbon (or "Customize Quick Access Toolbar", if you prefer) --> Choose Commands from: "All commands" (dropdown)

    Select "Save & Close" and place according to your preference. I use the "Save as", "Undo", and "Redo" shortcuts, and wedge it in there.

    When opening an appointment, instead of clicking the "Close Window" option, use the "Save & Close" shortcut.

    Again, it doesn't solve the root problem, but I found that I could live with this.

    They don't fix it because it is not really a bug - it's an unfortunate consequence of the situation. If you get asked to save, it's because some piece of data on the appointment was updated. Which piece? Who knows.

    Maybe we can all agree here that locking your laptop and unlocking it again can't be and musn't be a change to the appointment, whatever way you view it ;-) That situation is what the question is about.

    That said, an appointment object that keeps a counter of how many times the user locked the session sounds totally legit if I imagine myself to be a mega-corporation SW developer. The more things tracked, the bigger my bonus, and the happier I would get.

    They don't fix it because it is not really a bug - it's an unfortunate consequence of the situation. If you get asked to save, it's because some piece of data on the appointment was updated. Which piece? Who knows. The list of things that could theoretically change in the data around and about the appointment is huge, especially with add-ons that bring their own raft of stuff. Nobody could know or agree on which things that might change (weather, time, logon status, etc., etc. ) are the ones you or I would consider important or not, so anything that changes just tags the appointment as 'updated' and the close routine asks to save. I suppose there could be a huge selection panel of things that we can select as being important or not, but it would be really big, and would have to be accessible for add-ons too.
    Yes, they could play whack-a-mole and start ignoring very minor things as people complain...but that could turn into actual bugs when the very minor thing actually breaks something for someone.

    I experience the same, you need to click into a message to use web conferencing links that aren't Teams.
