How to change download destination in "New Outlook" (May 2023)

I recently switched over to try the "New Outlook". In the older layout version of Outlook, when downloading an attachment I had multiple options on how that attachment could be saved to my computer. The main option I utilized was simply " Save As". In the "New Outlook" version, that option is no longer there. Is there a way to customize the options you see when downloading an attachment? Here are the options it gives:

  • Preview

-Edit in Browser

-Edit in Excel desktop app (it was an excel file in this case)

-Save to OneDrive

-Download

The old options would have:

-Preview

-Open

-Quick Print

-Save As

Save All Attachments

-Upload

-Remove Attachment

-Copy

-Select All

Really looking for the "Save As" option so I can navigate to the final destination folder.

    One year ago and donloading files still does not work in a useful way.

    Slowly I think about cancelling my office subsciptions alltogether.

    I replaced Excel, Outlook is becoming more and more a nuisance.. and the new Outlook has only very little advantages and lots of UX problems since 10+ months.

    Stuff that worked for 10++ years now has beem "improved away" like:
    No proper Download
    No "resend message as new"
    No shared folders in "Favorites"
    Shared folders only in 3rd level with bad working updates on displaying unread messages..

    At least the search now finds a little more results than, before where it was just plain useless.

    This seems to still be a problem many months later. I can't find a way to change the downloads destination. Am I missing something?

    I just switched back to old outlook JUST because of that. It is massive GDPR issue if I'm saving organisations documents in my personal onedrive rather than in relevant cloud folders. Since May 2023 it should have been prioritized as a bigger problem unless Microsoft doesn't respect GDPR

    Good point!
    The platform-wide (at least all clients, on all devices that I use) default behavior of documents saving to (personal) OneDrive rather than the organization SharePoint Library is a daily source of frustration that I never understood.

    I use Print to PDF to save wherever I want to. It's the only way to get around the lack of a Save-As in the drop down menu. If you don't have Print to PDF as a "printer" option, then sorry you will have to download everything and then go file it from the download folder. But if you do have print to pdf, use that to save it where you want.
