I recently switched over to try the "New Outlook". In the older layout version of Outlook, when downloading an attachment I had multiple options on how that attachment could be saved to my computer. The main option I utilized was simply " Save As". In the "New Outlook" version, that option is no longer there. Is there a way to customize the options you see when downloading an attachment? Here are the options it gives:
-Edit in Browser
-Edit in Excel desktop app (it was an excel file in this case)
-Save to OneDrive
-Download
The old options would have:
-Preview
-Open
-Quick Print
-Save As
Save All Attachments
-Upload
-Remove Attachment
-Copy
-Select All
Really looking for the "Save As" option so I can navigate to the final destination folder.

I click the dropdown on the attachment in the email and it pops up the save as box. Also works from the Preview screen now. Maybe I'm a beta tester and don't know it. Hope it comes back for you soon as well.
Why have a "New Outlook preview" available to the masses if not to beta test? but also, they don't update it - still can't do basic functions that old outlook had and its been a year since this thread was opened. Yes, you can download a file to the default "downloads" folder, but you can't define if you want to download it to another location.
At the very least Microsoft should be doing regular updates and fleshing out the issues in this "preview" if they really plan on executing it as an official release. Everyone using it is more frustrated than impressed.

When I open new Outlook now, the Download option appears in the attachment drop-down, and it defaults to the Desktop location. So that is progress (provided we ignore the fact that this feature went live a few months ago, then mysteriously disappeared)...
However, until attachment drag-and-drop is restored, I still consider this a work-around for a half-finished attachment handling feature set.
I want to be able to simply OPEN a download to review and/or print it and then determine if i want to save it to my computer. It sounds like a simple feature that has been around for ages, yet is not available on this new version. Make it happen please!

Using the New Outlook for desktop today, and attachment Drag-n-Drop is now working again! (?)
Is that true for everybody following this thread?

@jeff Presumably you know that in the New Outlook, if you click an attachment (you don't need to open the email message to activate this--it works from the reading pane), a large preview opens next to the mail message? I actually prefer this method of reviewing attachments: it does not obscure the email, thus preserving the direct Drag-n-Drop method, while offering a dedicated "Download" button in addition.
