How to change download destination in "New Outlook" (May 2023)

I recently switched over to try the "New Outlook". In the older layout version of Outlook, when downloading an attachment I had multiple options on how that attachment could be saved to my computer. The main option I utilized was simply " Save As". In the "New Outlook" version, that option is no longer there. Is there a way to customize the options you see when downloading an attachment? Here are the options it gives:

  • Preview

-Edit in Browser

-Edit in Excel desktop app (it was an excel file in this case)

-Save to OneDrive

-Download

The old options would have:

-Preview

-Open

-Quick Print

-Save As

Save All Attachments

-Upload

-Remove Attachment

-Copy

-Select All

Really looking for the "Save As" option so I can navigate to the final destination folder.

Thanks.

Awesome! Thanks for that. I can get behind the print to pdf idea because now I can actually rename the file and save it where I want. Still not as efficient as the old Outlook though because there are 3 added steps: Preview from the dropdown for the attachment > Print > Save rather than the old Save As from the dropdown, or right click on attachment.

I really despise all the dummying down for programs that now require a subscription. Hey Microsoft, our "subscription" is supposed to give us updated programs that make our lives better.

This new Outlook is not fully developed and the old Outlook is starting to break for me so I no longer have the option to use it.

But anyway, thanks Paul and CarolGregory for posting this work around.

Have you found a better email handler for desktop?

This is not a good work around for people who need to rename the folder before saving.

I just leave feedback from the help menu in outlook. I don't think it ever asked me to give them data collected. But if that's where you are leaving feedback then may not be able to do so.

    Hi,

I attempted to raise the support request as suggested in the official reply but I am unable to do so without approving data collection.
Is there a feature request action that does not require log files etc?

    Cheers

    Steve
