Fake "Microsoft Outlook" robo e-mail

An e-mail from "Microsoft Outlook" automatically shows up within seconds of opening my Hotmail account. The "MO e-mail will not let me send it to junk, delete it, etc. nor, when hovering over the address, does it ID anything about the sender. It does have three options: open it, trash can, or a square with the word Ad in it. The Subject line says: Upgrade Your Account Get the latest premium etc. I close out of Hotmail, even shut down my computer, but the "MO email" shows up within seconds of login. Is there any way to block this (what-I-believe-is-robo) spam? Need help!  Thx.

    Hi Coffecup90,

    Greetings.

Thank you for raising your concern in this community.

Could you please try opening the email from outlook on the web to see if you will be able to send it to the junk

    https://outlook.office.com/

Moreover, you can direclty block the address from outlook on the web > settings > Mail > Junk > add block senders or domain.

If need be you can send me the message header via Private Message to double check.

Feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Mac

I have the same as Coffeecup, cannot delete as normal, have tried binning it using the icon on the email heading, but it does not show in deleted items folder, but the minute I open my emails window it comes in again, my Antivirus does not remove it, probably because it thinks it is Microsoft and it is alright, cannot forward it to report it or move it to junk, it is parading as from Microsoft, the email says upgrade your Microsoft account, the Ad wants to charge $6.99 a month for upgrade, but there is nowhere in this email or ad to delete, my toolbar does not show its icons for delete or move or junk, nothing, yet does for my other e-mails. It is disrupting my internet access interrupting it, Even if I chose to clean my PC and have to reload all my stuff I do not think this will stop it coming in again

I open my Hotmail from the web: Outlook.com.

With every other inbox e-mail, there are multiple letters, numbers, forward slashes, etc after the usual: https://outlook.live.com/

The "robo email" shows only the following in that field: https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/

As mentioned by another community member with this issue, there is no way to send this "robo e-mail" to junk, to delete it, move to, to block it—all the usual options disappear when this e-mail is highlighted or opened. If I hover the mouse over the sender address ("Microsoft Outlook"), nothing is displayed.

The inbox email looks/reads as follows:

Brown MO circle (From) Microsoft Outlook (trash can followed by a square with the word "Ad" in it)

(Subject) Upgrade Your Account Get the latest premium Outlook feat...

Inside says ... (radio button with "i" in it) This is a new type of ad.

Text reads: Get the latest premium Outlook features.

Below that is a hot link that reads—Learn More

I did not click the hot link.

Can't help but wonder if this is something that will spread exponentially. This needs MSFT IT eyes.

I have the same problem. So, is this ad coming from Microsoft? And are they aware of this issue?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Microsoft identifies itself; this e-mail hides. My strong belief is this "robo e-mail" is NOT from Microsoft but is malicious spam/phishing/junk. For example, if I click Shift + Delete (a hard delete), I get a pop-up message that says: "Are you sure you want to delete all the items in your inbox?" The options are Delete All or Cancel.

This could become an exponential mess. Where are you, Microsoft IT gurus?
