Fake "Microsoft Outlook" robo e-mail

An e-mail from "Microsoft Outlook" automatically shows up within seconds of opening my Hotmail account. The "MO e-mail will not let me send it to junk, delete it, etc. nor, when hovering over the address, does it ID anything about the sender. It does have three options: open it, trash can, or a square with the word Ad in it. The Subject line says: Upgrade Your Account Get the latest premium etc. I close out of Hotmail, even shut down my computer, but the "MO email" shows up within seconds of login. Is there any way to block this (what-I-believe-is-robo) spam? Need help!  Thx.

This is the exact description of what I have, I have done a scan using my PCs firewall, it took all night and said 16 files were infected, however it has failed to remove the offending email. All day yesterday computer was fine til &pm, suddenly internet disrupted, when I went to Programs I find that the Microsoft edge that was downloaded on Saturday 14th May gone replaced with Microsoft Edge loaded yesterday, 16th May, this had happened last week so I uninstalled it, I did the same thing a few minutes ago and installed a fresh Microsoft Edge again, I think there is some connection between the robo email and this Microsoft Edge being downloaded. I have submitted a form to Microsoft telling them of the problem. My last resort was to think about wiping the computer but it will mean having to download some of my programmes and I do not think that unless this is a virus (which I am beginning to think it is) thatit will stop it coming in to my emails again. Microsoft need to fix this problem and investigate

I have the same problem. I can delete but next time I open Outlook, there it is again at the top of my list of emails. I cannot forward it, block it nor report it. I noticed that the problem is on the Firefox browser but not Safari. What's the solution, Microsoft?

Microsoft identifies itself; this e-mail hides. My strong belief is this "robo e-mail" is NOT from Microsoft but is malicious spam/phishing/junk. For example, if I click Shift + Delete (a hard delete), I get a pop-up message that says: "Are you sure you want to delete all the items in your inbox?" The options are Delete All or Cancel.

This could become an exponential mess. Where are you, Microsoft IT gurus?

I open my Hotmail from the web: Outlook.com.

With every other inbox e-mail, there are multiple letters, numbers, forward slashes, etc after the usual: https://outlook.live.com/

The "robo email" shows only the following in that field: https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/

As mentioned by another community member with this issue, there is no way to send this "robo e-mail" to junk, to delete it, move to, to block it—all the usual options disappear when this e-mail is highlighted or opened. If I hover the mouse over the sender address ("Microsoft Outlook"), nothing is displayed.

The inbox email looks/reads as follows:

Brown MO circle (From) Microsoft Outlook (trash can followed by a square with the word "Ad" in it)

(Subject) Upgrade Your Account Get the latest premium Outlook feat...

Inside says ... (radio button with "i" in it) This is a new type of ad.

Text reads: Get the latest premium Outlook features.

Below that is a hot link that reads—Learn More

I did not click the hot link.

Can't help but wonder if this is something that will spread exponentially. This needs MSFT IT eyes.
