New outlook not showing total email count in each folder on windows application

Also VERY FRUSTRATED with this issue! @Microsoft PLEASE FIX ASAP!

If these companies would have the users' best interest in mind this would have a simple democratic solution. Take a simple poll on how many people not only want, but NEED, to have these features that have been stripped away. It's one thing to request a new feature addition, it is a totally different issue (with Google, Microsoft, etc.) when we are forced onto a new design for an existing product that removes features we are used to and are integral to our workflow. Having to re-train / re-learn and change methods each time a company decides it wants to do a UI update is beyond frustrating. There are only so many workarounds, none of which are effective in the long run.

Microsoft, this is a simple ask. Return the folder email counts please. Leave it up to a vote.

I have not read all the posts but in addition to this I just found that simply hovering the cursor over the folder also gives the total emails and number unread. Not ideal like when I could just see it in the status bar but a path forward. Why don't they test these things?

So just mouse-hover over the folder!

Within 0.5 to 1 second, the tooltip will appear showing the number!

The tooltip actually indicates:

<FolderName> - <Nbr Total Items> (<Nbr Unread Items>)

So this helps a lot.

Though I'm still hoping we'll eventually get back the option to change it to permanently show number of items inside folders we indicate.

Not disagreeing with what you are stating. However, having the functionality of seeing total number of emails in a folder doesn't really apply to folders 10 years old for those of us that use that functionality for workforce. It applies to working folders of today. I do not keep emails in my inbox. For personal and professional I have a folder called IMMEDIATE. that is a folder that I know I need to look at all of the emails in and either reply or do something. I want to see the total of the emails in that folder to know if there is still something that need to be done, not just ones that haven't been marked as read. Following that is an ASAP. Not as important as the IMMEDIATE but also emails that I need to review and do something with. Once again want to see the total in that folder not just the number of unread. All other emails have been filed in there respective folders and to you point don't care at all how many are in those. So it comes down to having working folders and knowing how many total are in those folders that you need to process ("how many are in the folder left that I need to process?"). Having that view capability without having to go into the folder itself.

I recieve hundreds of emails daily both personally and professionally. Having that quick view capability of knowing how many emails I still need to process is instrumental. Not having it completely upsets that workflow, as I now have to click on all of the respective folders to see if they have emails that need processing manually. And still can't see how many are in there.

Different people use different methodologies for there workflow. For those of us that use that quick view capability to see how many total emails are in a folder, removing this feature is terrible.

Having the count of mail in folder items shown next to the folder name is invaluable for seeing my workflow at a glance. It's a major deal breaker with adopting the New Outlook.
