New outlook not showing total email count in each folder on windows application

This is what Im looking for. Count of total emails on the folder.

Just want one simple feature. In For Follow up, to show a count of total emails in the folder, NOT unread.

Flagged emails to show in For Follow up, and regardless if its read or not, show how many emails are in that folder.

If they wont give back this very basic feature, there has to be a registry fix to change "For Follow Up" search folder to show TOTAL COUNT, not unread.

Rory, I think we are on the same page. Yes, you really do need to open up the root folder to see all the buckets and unread mail counts.

First, that they took away the unread mail count for the main INBOX at the root folder level is a real pain. Especially for someone who may have 2-100 different email accounts they need to check. The mail program was always great at giving this overview as to if possibly critical messages were received.

Second, feature is the ability to sort the file folders list at the root level. Instead of locking in the sort by creation of the account in the Mail program.

Both of these seem to be widely mentioned in forums/groups from what I noticed, but doesn't seem like Microsoft really cares about correcting?

Agreed, Rory. Pinning favorite folders and seeing the total count of emails in each of them (at a glance) is how I manage my Inbox. It seems strange that MS would remove this Unread vs. Total Count folder configuration option. It's very frustrating and I won't be upgrading until my company forces me too.

@Emily 32 posted above about a reasonable workaround I'll be utilizing (once I migrate):

My workaround has been to change the folder so items have to be marked as read, they don't read automatically. That way I can move them around and they remain unread and the folder shows them in its count.

Settings > Message handling > Mark as read > Don't automatically mark items as read

Seems most of this discussion wants to see a count of total emails on the folder. I would like to see it setup the same way as the old Mail program, where next to the folder name, it shows the number of unread email in the Inbox. Has to be at the top folder level, and viewable without having to go into each email account.

This new Mail program is worthless unless one can quickly scan various email accounts to see which one's may have unread mail. Or am I missing something.
