when I run outlook on my macbook air, it opens up multiple windows (up to 50) automatically. this in return freezes up my application.
i've tried to create a new account and reinstall outlook where it will run as expected for a few months and then it restarts to open up multiple windows.
this has been ongoing from running BigSur and now on Monterey.

agree - I spent 6 hours with Microsoft L2 and L3 technicians - they could not fix the problem so I have moved to using MacMail. they have lost me totally
So I also have the same problem with outlook. it started when i switched to an m2 mac air. Outlook generated tens and tens of windows, all of a sudden. I could not close them manually. I was able to completely reinitialize outlook, ( i downloaded software that does that, will add a link to this post later). I did have to re-create my accounts which was a nuance, Outlook worked for a few weeks and the problem resurfaced again. I never had this problem with my intel mac, very odd behavior. I will need to drop the use of outlook and either use apple mail (which i do not like) or find another product,
Karen... It's obvious that MS could care less about Mac Users. An Issue like this that makes their software unusable to so many users you'd think it would a priority to FIX .... I know... Please submit a crash report... BLA BLA BLA...The App doesn't crash... A routine in their "code" just runs amok and creates 100's of inbox windows....They'll blame Apple for a security addition to the OS update and Apple will say... You've had the code to test... and back and forth.... Why do they offer products for the Apple platform if they don't address issues in a timely manner? If this was happening in the Windows environment you can bet it would have been patched PRONTO. My advice is: Migrate to Apple mail. I know it doesn't have all of the functions mail/address book/calendar under one app but it doesn't render your Mac un useable. If you need it for work, Tell I.T. to FIX the issue...HA.. It's obvious that MS wants everyone to switch to the Cloud version of their apps so that they can have their hand in your pockets every month. Full Circle - - in the 60's there were mainframe centralized Computers - - Then they said NO everybody needs their own computer on their desk...Now it's back to MAIN FRAME centralized computing...It's just called Cloud.... Sorry for the Gettysburg address but MS and their arrogance is just too much.....
this has just started happening on my iMac for the first time ever since I ran the Sonoma update. Most unacceptable - I have created new users and the issue just keeps repeating. 50-100 outlook instances open every time. Microsoft need to address this for Mac users.
