when I run outlook on my macbook air, it opens up multiple windows (up to 50) automatically. this in return freezes up my application.

i've tried to create a new account and reinstall outlook where it will run as expected for a few months and then it restarts to open up multiple windows.

this has been ongoing from running BigSur and now on Monterey.

This is beyond disgraceful.... MS calls themselves a software company? Their response to this issue is a JOKE. I spent 8 hours yesterday trying to help a friend with this problem. Tired very suggestion listed in all the posts and nothing. Even wiped the Mac started from scratch....For an issue like this to have gone on un resolved means THEY DON'T CARE. I've been a Macintosh consultant for almost 30 years and the software with the most problems always seems to come from MS. You pay for the software and try to get support! HA. You could have a 15 year old Mac and call Apple and within 5 minutes there is a person on the phone helping you. The worse thing about this is you see this issue has been a problem for months if not years and MS does nothing about it. Some people have no choice because their business made the horrible decision to use the Ms platform and now the Mac users have no choice but to use their BLOATWERE that DOESN'T Work... It's frustrating to say the least... I'd like to really tell you about MS Support but my post would be flagged.... F I X Y O U R "S O F T W A R E" or stop selling it......

I think I found another temporary solution on my MacBook Pro M1 running Ventura 13.5 and Outlook 16.76.2.

I ran into this issue yesterday for the first time. This issue not only made Outlook unusable but also slowed down my Mac.

Tried to close the windows one by one (using command + W) as some you suggested, but the windows froze up during the process and I wasn't able to finish the process (multiple times).

The solution that worked for me:

    1. Tools --> Accounts -- remove the email account that you are receiving emails from (a Outlook Exchange account from my employer).
    2. Quit Outlook, restart Mac, Open Outlook again, re-add your email account, then the windows disappeared.
    3. You need set your email signatures again in Outlook.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi,

I had the same problem as you. I resolved it by singing out and sign in again.

    Nothing else helped.

    Dear Martin Turpin,

How is your problem going? If there is any update, please feel free to let me know.

    Sincerely,

    Katherine

Katherine I have same problem with Montery 12.6.4 new Outlook.

I had it on Catalina to the point I could no longer use Outlook on an older machine,

On this 2015 MBP it just started agin and I have 37 screens open.

Your ‘OutlookResetPreferences’ part of Outlook for Mac support tools. - Outlook | Microsoft Docs.leads now to a 404 error.

Previously I had made 4 or 5 new ID which was a nuisance because I lost all my rules on old Outlook.

Can I send you a screen shot showing the screens, and the OS and MS about windows.

    Chris
