What happened to Next Item/Previous Item arrows in Outlook 365 for Mac?

My Outlook 365 for Mac recently updated. Previously, when I opened an e-mail message, there were up and down arrows in the upper right that I could use to go to the previous or next message without returning to the Inbox and list of emails. Now, those arrows have disappeared. No similar buttons or arrows are in the ribbon that's now at the top of the screen and I don't find them as options when trying to Customize the ribbon, even though there would be room for additional buttons. (See below.) I also haven't been able to find keyboard shortcuts that would let me go to the next or previous message without returning first to the Inbox.

Thanks for any help with this!

Spread across a couple of earlier replies, can confirm that on a windows keyboard and in chrome, the CTRL-"period" and CTRL-"comma" workaround operates as described. Helps to think of it as more CTRL plus left and right carets since that's the other characters displayed on those to keys. Also *somewhat* useful that they are right next to each other.

This works but they need to put the arrows back. How do we get them to do that?

I am experiencing the same issue of the disappearing next/back arrows but I'm using the latest version of Firefox. How do I reinstate the arrows?

For the benefit of other users:

This morning, I learned that the recommended shortcut did not work because I had not yet selected an option for keyboard shortcuts on outlook.office365.com.

To do so, I went to Settings>General>Accessibility>Keyboard Shortcuts.

I selected the option for Outlook.com.
