What happened to Next Item/Previous Item arrows in Outlook 365 for Mac?

My Outlook 365 for Mac recently updated. Previously, when I opened an e-mail message, there were up and down arrows in the upper right that I could use to go to the previous or next message without returning to the Inbox and list of emails. Now, those arrows have disappeared. No similar buttons or arrows are in the ribbon that's now at the top of the screen and I don't find them as options when trying to Customize the ribbon, even though there would be room for additional buttons. (See below.) I also haven't been able to find keyboard shortcuts that would let me go to the next or previous message without returning first to the Inbox.

Thanks for any help with this!

Spread across a couple of earlier replies, can confirm that on a windows keyboard and in chrome, the CTRL-"period" and CTRL-"comma" workaround operates as described. Helps to think of it as more CTRL plus left and right carets since that's the other characters displayed on those to keys. Also *somewhat* useful that they are right next to each other.

I have the same problem. There no longer are Next and Previous arrows shown. Not having them is very inconvenient and time-consuming.

I started having the same issue on June 23, 2020. The next/previous arrows are no longer present when reading an email. I have tried with the latest versions of Microsoft Edge (Version 103.0.1264.37), Google Chrome (Version 103.0.5060.53) and Outlook PWA. The issue seems to be on specific accounts only as my other outlook.com account still has the arrows in the top right hand corner.

    Hi,

Thank you for trying to help but your suggestion does not solve the problem,. Here is what I found under the shortcuts you mentioned: Open the next itemCtrl+.Open the previous itemCtrl+,

This task involves moving my hand from the mouse and using the keyboard instead of just using the mouse for the up down arrow which is quicker. I know there are always going to be changes but why play around with something that works. This problem with the disappearance of the arrows just started within the past few days. Please let me know if there is a fix. Thanks
