I need a button (in microsoft 365 outlook) that says to mark as read when item is opened just like I had in the original program (that my office has forced me to get rid of in favor of this mess). The problem is that then even when you open an email it still doesn't get marked as read. You have to manually set each email to read. This is not a solution at all.

This doesn't solve the problem. This does not mark opened emails as 'Read'.

I just found it! View > Mail > Message Handling > Mark as read > Don't automatically mark items as read Microsoft, hire me. I found something your Agents took six months and still can't find.

Hello, I had the same question. After some research, I've concluded the latest version of Outlook simply doesn't have this feature the previous versions had - it has been removed.

Same issue here. After opening or viewing an email, it should be marked read. This is not rocket science.

Outlook (365) - mark item as read only AFTER I OPEN the item.
