I, and 3 colleagues, are all on the same version of Outlook for Mac (16.71.2).
For two of us the icons for Mail, Calendar, and People are on the side. The 3rd person has them (where I always used to find them) at the bottom.
I have searched everywhere but cannot figure out how to get them to the bottom again.
Thoughts??

Are you saying you can't see a total email count or an unread count?
I don't ever remember seeing a total count in the sidebar but the unread count still appears even when I move the icons back to the bottom.
You may have to "grab" the edge of the sidebar and open it up a little bit to see the unread count again.

You should still be able to flip through your open windows with CMD-TAB. Once you're in a tabbed application like Chrome you can then CTRL-TAB through the open tabs within the app.
One thing I like to do is click the green dot in the upper left corner to make Outlook full screen. Now use THREE fingers on your trackpad or magic mouse to swipe left and right. You'll bring in Outlook or swipe it out and back to your other apps, no more looking for it or doing CMD-TAB to find it. You'll even find that you can swipe to a clean new desktop and start using some other apps there. Swipe back to your other desktop or Outlook easily the same way.
Other fun mac tricks: Swipe three fingers straight up on your trackpad and see all your open windows at once! That's called Mission Control. Hover over each small window and Mac will tell you the name of the document, XL, PPT etc. Go to Apple Icon / System Settings / Trackpad / More Gestures to see a bunch of other things you can do. My favorite is CMD-spacebar which opens Spotlight Search. Start typing the name of a document etc. and Mac will try to find it on your machine or give you other searching options.

I spoke too soon! It allowed me to move the calendar, mailbox etc to the bottom, which is great. But in doing so, i also lost the ability to see how many emails are in my inbox - i find this feature more important so have had to revert back
Since moving to a company using macs I've found it so frustrating that you can't just alt+tab through all windows - most frustrating is not being able to get to the main OUtlook window easily - this shortcut certainly helps - thankyou!!!
