Outlook Android App error occurred during authentication. Please try again later.

I have searched and found a few others with this problem and I could not find any solution that worked for me.

With Microsoft 365 personal can you access the calendar using the Outlook Android app? When I try to login to add my account I receive this error.

An error occurred during authentication. Please try again later.

Tried using the app to contact support, but just get a spinning blue circle saying contacting to support.

Tried clearing cache, deleting Outlook and reinstalling different WiFi and mobile data, changing password and I keep receiving the error.

I can login using other apps and with the browser. Outlook is the only problem.

    Hi Kenny,

I am also having the same problem I am using my custom domain and it's working well on the web, but when I try to sign in to the Outlook mobile app, it gives the same error it gave to you.

you're the only survivor here, please assist how outlook.com started working with your custom domain email. and how the alias is created.

    Thanks, Kenny

Also having the same issue - custom domain. Can't log in using password or authenticator app but the website (in browser) works fine. Do you create a new outlook email and then link that to your custom email? Or does Microsoft just not work with custom domains? Seems stupid.

I am asked to enter my user name and password. Also tried using Microsoft Authenticator.

Username and password work then a quick authentication in progress (or something close to that) then the "An error occurred during authentication. Please try again later." And back to the add account screen.

I am having exactly the same problem. My email account is with Sky Yahoo. I have set it up OK with Outlook on my desktop, and it also worked OK on my previous Android phone but, when I try to set it up on my new Android phone, the response is as described above. I also get notifications from Sky Yahoo that someone has tried to access my account from the phone, but there is nothing to show for it at this end.

I have been trying to resolve the same issue since I bought my new Android phone in March 2023. I too have a Sky Yahoo email account and this has worked perfectly with the Outlook App on all previous Android phones. Sadly I have had no help whatsoever on trying to resolve this matter. Each time I try and "Add an Account" I cannot get past entering my email address. Momentarily the Password screen flicks on but immediately disappears and the "An error occurred during authentication. Please try again later." message appears.

On account of this I have resorted to installing the Yahoo Mail App and uninstalling the Outlook App. The Yahoo Mail App works and whilst it takes a bit of getting used to (and has an annoying sponsored Ad at the top of the Inbox) I can actually receive and send emails! All my folders are accessible and so I can look at historic messages too. What a pity nobody at Microsoft seems to care about getting to the bottom of this fault or problem.
