I have searched and found a few others with this problem and I could not find any solution that worked for me.

With Microsoft 365 personal can you access the calendar using the Outlook Android app? When I try to login to add my account I receive this error.

An error occurred during authentication. Please try again later.

Tried using the app to contact support, but just get a spinning blue circle saying contacting to support.

Tried clearing cache, deleting Outlook and reinstalling different WiFi and mobile data, changing password and I keep receiving the error.

I can login using other apps and with the browser. Outlook is the only problem.

I was having the same error. Nothing above solved the problem. I figured out the following fix.

Background as to what caused the problem

I have an M365 email essentials account with GoDaddy. I originally set up the account with one personal domain (e.g., mydomain.com - this is just a sample name). I then edited the account in GoDaddy so that it worked with a second personal domain (e.g., mydomain2.com - this is just a different sample name). GoDaddy stated that it would link the first account to the second account, I okayed that not knowing it would cause a problem. After this my primary email was the new ******@mydomain2.com, the ******@mydomain.com was set as an alias.

    The Fix

In trying to add ******@mydomain2.com's email to Outlook for Android I kept getting the authentication error. The fix was to enter in the email address ******@mydomain.com (the original email address for the account, even though it should now just be an alias). Then instead of just getting the authentication error it took me to the godaddy signin page. There I entered ******@mydomain2.com (the primary account email address) and the associated password. That set up the account and it is now working in Outlook on my Android device.

    Best of luck everyone.

Surprise! Surprise! I uninstalled the App for the umpteenth time and reinstalled it. I then went through all the steps I have done in the past, but this time I got past the Yahoo landing page to their Password page, entered the password and then completed the two step authentication by entering the passcode sent to the phone! Not sure why but no authentication error stopped the process and the email account is now working!

Hmm could you list the steps that it asks you to fill out?

You really have to trial and error, one by one leave the field empty and try your luck. This is what I did with my issue for the Exchange email, I kept putting in the domain until I tried just leaving it empty and it worked

How are you setting it up? Are you using Exchange?

When you set up the Exchange account in the Outlook app do the following:

    Domain: leave this field blank

Username: type in your whole email address

Sadly I'm not using Exchange. It is a Yahoo account. The account is recognised when I select, "ADD ACCOUNT", as it shows at the top of the page as "Account Selected". However it then gives the authentication error when trying to get to the next stage. It's all very frustrating.
