My default save location when saving documents from Word/Excel/Outlook is on network folder via folder redirection for Documents and Desktop. When i switch to new experience interface and try to save email attachment from Outlook it's trying to open the shared folder via port 80 instead SMB file share which cause an pop up display Connecting: Trying to connect to: \fileserver\share...

If I manually change the default save location to point on some local folder and then navigate to the file share via "save as" dialog it browse the shared folders normally and open the network shares normally. Also if i disable the new experience switch and return to the old interface of outlook it works ok. This problem is observed only in the New experience interface for all Office products (word/excel/outlook) when the default save location is pointing to the network share.

We got the fix release schedule I just updated the Known Issue with the specifics, Outlook Desktop is slow to save attachments to a network path - Microsoft Support.

Hope I am wrong but I suspect the reason you havent heard anything recently about the backport is Win10 being EOL. We might not be lucky, the back port may not happen.
I also suspect a lot of us are worried by the EOL of Win10. The TPM hardware requirement for Win11 globally is going to mean scrapping lots of hardware making it a hit on the IT budget for everyone.

Happy New Year. Although Office did implement a fix previously it caused other issues. In order to properly fix the issue, we had to escalate a hotfix to Windows. Windows has implemented a fix and that I added to this Known Issue, Outlook Desktop is slow to save attachments to a network path - Microsoft Support. I believe the fix is still in Windows 11 canary. Our escalation team asked Windows to backport to Windows 10 and I think that is planned but have not seen a recent update about it.

Windows implemented a fix that will be first available to Insiders starting with build 25991.1000.rs_prerelease.231102-1335.

The Known Issue article you reference is showing as Status: Fixed. Not true. It isn't completely fixed. Saving emails or attachments does seem to be fixed. However, I can still reliably recreate this problem on Version 2313 (Build 17126.202126 Click-to-Run)
In Outlook desktop, open an email with an inline (embedded) image. Left click to select the image, Right click and choose "save as picture".
Connecting popup box appears and remains on screen for 20 seconds before the Save As window appears.
Curiously this seems to be a one time event if, and only if, you actually save the image to a folder. Choosing a different image in the same email after that and repeating the steps produces an instant Save As window.
But if you don't save the image on the first attempt, i.e. you just wait for the time out of the Connecting pop up and then cancel the Save As window, then the bug remains on all subsequent iterations until you do save the file.
Is it caching a location after you save?
Thank you for the input. We tested this on a few of our clients and it did not resolve the issue. (Different HP Laptops).
I hope they come up with a solution for this.
