Outlook keep resetting ribbon back to default after changes

That solution won't work for those with multiple mailboxes. Reason being is that you can only change one mailbox, and it will revert if you try to change another mailbox (under the same Outlook profile, of course). I suppose I could change one mailbox, lock down the files, but then I can't change another mailbox. I wish Microsoft would just fix this customization thing to work right, and not force anything upon us.

I'm not sure what you are meaning by 'multiple mailboxes under the same Outlook profile'. I have different profiles for my different email accounts. If I change the ribbon in one profile, when I switch to another profile the changes stick. How does your setup work?

It will work for 1 mailbox per profile. Mine has 8 mailboxes in 1 profile. It's a pain to switch profiles as I am constantly using 3 mailboxes at the same time, with occasional lookup in 5 other mailboxes. See screenshot:

By "Multiple Mailboxes" I mean that I have a single "Outlook Account/Profile" and within my single INBOX I have multiple specific custom mailboxes. And Sub-mailboxes within a few of those. So... when mail comes from Mrs. A it goes directly into that mailbox, and mail from Mr. B goes into a separate mailbox, etc. - as opposed to everything just getting dumped into the INBOX.

Ah, I gotcha. I wasn't following, but I actually do the same thing, multiple mailboxes (3 of them) in my main Outlook profile, available from the left Navigation pane. Anyway, to be honest, I haven't noticed that the ribbon tries to reset because I've had them locked down (read only) for so long.

QuickSteps was the only thing still causing me problems. Once I got rid of that and with my setting *.officeUI files to read only, my ribbons don't change at all.

I think it's absurd that Microsoft gives Outlook (and other office programs) the ability to customize ribbons, but hasn't fixed the issue of them reverting back. I have a feeling it's because the folks who actually customize their ribbons are the minority.

This is the garbage that keeps coming back when I remove it... And, when it does it scrunches up stuff that I use all the time so it's hard to get to.
