How to permanently show Folder pane

Suddenly today my folder pane is hidden by default. I have not changed any settings. I can go to View>Layout>Folder pane>Show and it will pop up but it will disappear if I click anywhere but the folder pane. I need to see the folder pane all the time. How can I change this? (And why did it change itself?)

Try this - right click, then click on 'reading mode - new'

Tried that but it doesn't stay. This has only happened since 12/01. I'll keep trying

Those 3 little stripes to the left of the Home button are flaky. First they only popped up the folder pane momentarily, next day they kept it open permanently; yet another day the folder pane is gone again. Reloading the page in the browser sometimes resolves it, sometimes it doesn't.

I am using Chrome on Windows 11.

I'm having the same problem - tried it in both Edge and Chrome; same result. My email ends with outlook.com - I don't know what type of account it is among the options you listed. I never had to go to View>Layout>Folder Pane>Show before but now I have to do that every time I log back in in order to see the folder pane.

Same drama's here. Everything was fine now the folder pane has disappeared and all I see now is messages with no fder pane. The whole app decided to change my original format by itself and I can't get the folder pane to show permanently even following Microsofts instructions???

I had the same problem but resolved it. I did away with the 'preview email' panel which made then made room for the folders panel and the inbox panels. I haven't had that problem since. I don't really miss the preview email info at all. I hope this helps. :-)
