How to permanently show Folder pane

Suddenly today my folder pane is hidden by default. I have not changed any settings. I can go to View>Layout>Folder pane>Show and it will pop up but it will disappear if I click anywhere but the folder pane. I need to see the folder pane all the time. How can I change this? (And why did it change itself?)

If I go to View>Layout>Folder pane> the check mark is on Hide. It will not allow me to select Show. I am using the latest versions of Edge and Windows 11.

The suggested fix, "** Here's the deal. I finally figured it out. Under the HOME tab, there is a button "Toggle Left Pane" - click on it and the folder pane will stay open." requires that the button exists. It does not.

This is not the fix for me. I am using Outlook in Exchange. There are not three lines under Home. It is very frustrating working without the folder pane as I set up meetings constantly all day long with multiple people's calendars to view in order to find the best time.

I wasn't offering a fix. I was also complaining about the same "improved" feature.

Under the HOME tab, there is a button "Toggle Left Pane"

I see no such button under the HOME tab.

It appears that all of these suggestions are based on the BROWSER-based version of "outlook.live.com". Whatever Microsoft did affected the OUTLOOK.EXE that comes with Office/365. There is no such solution or button in OUTLOOK.EXE.

I found that if I click on the VIEW tab on my laptop, and then go to the group of icons labeled "Layout", then click on "FOLDER PANE", the selection for "Normal" is checked, and there is another selection marked "Favorites" below the "Off" selection. On the version of OUTLOOK.EXE I just installed on my other laptop there is NO SUCH SELECTION for "FAVORITES".

HOW DO I TURN ON "FAVORITES" in the left column with OUTLOOK.EXE???
