In the latest update of Outlook for Mac I can no longer see a count of the number of emails in my inbox.  Is there a way to get it back?

This is ludicrous! I must have the total number of emails for my inbox displayed. How could you do this to us! I have to use the new version because my spotlight search for outlook is no longer working, even your support team cannot fix it, I would have to completely reinstall outlook and I have a 40GB inbox which days DAYS to download all the messages, so I am forced to use the new version to search for emails, and the new version does not show me the total number of emails. I cannot work like this. BTW, it was converting to the new version as an early adopter that broke my spotlight search to begin with! FIX THIS NOW!

    Also very frustrated about this.

But I do believe New Outlook is much better with the exception of this issue, for many of the reasons articulated here.

So here's the workaround I'm now using to compensate:

    1. Click funnel at top of inbox, then "Settings"

    2. Next to "Mark mail as read:", choose "Only when opened in a separate window".

    3. Make sure "Show message preview" is checked.

Now, as long as messages are not marked as "read" by opening them in a separate window, then my Inbox message count stays accurate next to Inbox.

This works for me because 1) I rarely open messages in separate windows to action them, and 2) I don't use "read" vs. "unread" for inbox management; For me, a message is either in my inbox (requiring action), filed or deleted.

    Happy Inbox Zeroing!

    Nick

PS - Apologies if others already shared; I did not read every one of the MANY entries here.

I totally agrees that this is a showstopper for me.

Please have this featured restored asap.

Came here to say the same thing - the total inbox count is essential. I am also switching back to the old version because of this. Please return this necessary function.

I had to switch back to the classic version over this issue last October and was checking back now to see if it has been fixed. Agree that it's a pretty important function to have forgotten.

Same here :( it is frustrating and disappointing...
