In the latest update of Outlook for Mac I can no longer see a count of the number of emails in my inbox.  Is there a way to get it back?

I may have missed the solution in the thread, but ...

I think I found a message count workaround on the Mac (that isn't too painful).

    In the "New" Outlook ...

    1. In the left panel, select the Inbox, or any other folder that you want to see a full message count (read and unread).
    2. Click anywhere in the message list area and Select All (command-A on a Mac).
    3. The message window will now display an envelope graphic with "XX conversations selected".

This gives you the message count for the folder selected.

FYI. Why Microsoft labels them as "Conversations" instead of Messages is beyond me. If you view your messages as "Show as Conversations" the count is actually the number of grouped conversations, not the number of all messages.

    You're welcome.

Many thanks for the tip Cindy!

Thanks for this Cindy. Yes is more fiddling to change the view to get a message count (not just "conversations"), but it is a way to get the information without having to count each message manually!. I would guess that most of us still want Microsoft to add the message (not conversation) counter feature back ....

    Hi Cindy,

Thank you for your reply. When I try your method, it does not give me the total count, rather it gives me about 25% of what the total count really is. I have tried it several times, but I come up with the same number.

    Thanks again,

    Michael

Good news ... "Total item count" is listed as Upcoming in the "New Outlook for Mac features" (Available in new Outlook, 16.58+, 16.58+), but it looks like it is not at the top of the list.
