In the latest update of Outlook for Mac I can no longer see a count of the number of emails in my inbox.  Is there a way to get it back?

I see this was created in 2020 , today July 26 2023 I am still unable to see the total number of emails in a folder unless I right click on the folder. This was very useful for me before, it was a feature on the lower right - I am switching back to the old outlook

    Hello Robert Carroll,

According to my test in 16.42 version, in New Outlook and classic Outlook window and next to the Inbox folder will always show the total number of Unread emails. For you issue of “no longer see a count of the number of emails”, could you kindly share more details of it with us for checking?  And what’s the full version number?

You may also try to create a new Outlook profile, set it to default, restart Outlook and add your account again to see if result is the same: Manage profiles or identities in Outlook for Mac (please do not remove the old profile during test to avoid data loss) .

    Best Regards,

    Anna

Right Click the Inbox shows you total e-mail count. I think this was what you were looking for Total Items previously and next to Inbox shows the total of Unread e-mails.

    Good luck !

Thank Goodness someone else finally joined the conversation that this isn't fixed for windows.

I understand this thread specifically is about Mac but as it's the one that seems to have all the attention it seems silly to raise the windows issue elsewhere.

I've gotten so used to judging my productivity and work schedule around how many emails I have in my inbox that this is driving me crazy but I can't switch

This doesn't work on the Windows version.

This new outlooks is missing a ton of features.

Most company's improve the product with updates not remove basic features.

Actually no it's not. It only counts conversations/threads not items.
