In the latest update of Outlook for Mac I can no longer see a count of the number of emails in my inbox. Is there a way to get it back?

no judgements! on my outlook version the active message is still displayed, not the total number of items unfortunately 😅
Here is the message count workaround I use on the Mac:
In the "New" Outlook ...
- In the left panel, select the Inbox, or any other folder that you want to see a full message count (read and unread).
- Click anywhere in the message list area and Select All (command-A on a Mac).
- The message window will now display an envelope graphic with "XX conversations selected".
This gives you the message count for the folder selected.
FYI. Why Microsoft labels them as "Conversations" instead of Messages is beyond me. If you view your messages as "Show as Conversations" the count is actually the number of grouped conversations, not the number of all messages.

Cindy what is the message window? Nothing changes when I select all, there is no envelope graphic anywhere, can you paste a print screen?
Thanks Mike - there is a mix of Read and Unread items in my Inbox, so marking all unread, then marking all as read will change that. I suppose I can resort to keeping a tally sheet with pencil and paper ... or hire an Intern to count the e-mails at the end of each day. Isn't one of the purposes of software to automate trivial tasks? It's clear Microsoft isn't listening or doesn't care. And they probably won't as long as they don't perceive this issue as costing them revenue. Those ads over on the right -> for Microsoft 365 ... I'm not buying!
So important feature is missing from 2 years now !!!!!
We are all suffering from this... Reading this forum I found something that might be helpful... If MSFT doens't correct this simple ask from thousands of us, we can still do the following.
Cmd+A *select all*, Cmd+Shift+t *mark all as unread*, read the total inbox number , and if needed Cmd+T *mark all as read again*
It's not the best solution but in a second and 2 shortcuts you can have the inbox number you need.
