Inbox Email Count in New Outlook for Mac

In the latest update of Outlook for Mac I can no longer see a count of the number of emails in my inbox.  Is there a way to get it back?

    Please fire somebody high up in Microsoft for being so useless as to releasing this version without having something so basic in place.

    I don't think this is quite true...

    It seems that the contents of the inbox are lazy-loaded and it's only showing the number of emails that have currently been loaded - not the total number in the inbox

    For example:

    I have an inbox "On My Computer" where the tooltip says "0 items"

    I click on the inbox, and some emails appear

    The tooltip now says "25 items"

    I scroll down the list of emails, forcing a load, and the number reported in the tooltip increases as more items are loaded

    Exactly. This is NOT fixed. This is a lazy band-aid approach. It only counts 1,000 pre-loaded emails for each folder. So if you have 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, or even 20,000 emails in a folder… you could be scrolling down for a LONG time to load all the emails to get an actual item count. I’ve been at my job for 10+ years now… so that’s just not going to work. Then if you close Outlook… you’ll have to scroll/load them all over again to see the true count again (just as I expected).

    I’m sticking with the Legacy version until I’m forced to switch. Microtrash never fails to deliver subpar updates. Which is the reason I switched to a Mac to begin with.

    P.S. How about the missing option/dialogue to stop auto-saving cancelled blank messages in “Drafts”? What about the lack of a connection status indicator? The miniature, lackluster side panel for Calendars, To-Dos, Notes, etc?

    Those are just from an hour of trying out the “New Outlook” version yet again - HOPING it would be better by now. It’s simply not.

    This is a ridiculous oversight - now I can only use the classic version, since the new is useless without the inbox tally.

    Do better, Microsoft - do better.

    Hover over Inbox or right click shows you the total open e-mails in your inbox !

    This has been resolved. Just hover over the box and you will get a message count.

    It took me a while to figure out what you meant. I finally hovered over the word "Inbox" on the left. When I hovered over the word "Inbox" under all accounts, it gave me the total. I then hovered over the Inbox in the individual accounts and also got the count. Very helpful.
