in the "Type here to search" box on the Task Bar type > cmd   >choose run as an administrator.. paste the commands into Command Prompt box.

Hit the enter key on the keyboard after pasting each command line.

cd "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"

and then

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12827.20470

UPDATE:

Do nothing, wait.   See:

Microsoft is automatically propagating a fix.....  I am seeing it automatically patch some of my clients i had not fixed yet, that complained earlier..

The issue should be fixed about now.  Outlook should have picked up the service change by now, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/active-investigation-into-outlook-crashing-on-launch-9c59ad4b-813c-432a-afdc-f14717a4528d.

Something to try is to reboot your machine.  This is also supposed to reset polling interval to get service update settings for the Outlook client.

I'm not sure why you would not see the ClickToRun directory.  This would be the case if you have Office 2013 or Office 2016 perpetual and maybe the Windows Store version of Office.  To see what SKU you have open Word and click File, Account, under Product Information.  Or version using the same steps under About Word.  If you share those we could likely have a better idea.

    Thank you for reply.

    I'm on a Windows 10 machine with Office/Outlook 365

    In my in the \Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\

    directory,

there is only one folder that has files, changed on the 15th of July, called "Ink" - it contains 103 items

and unfortunately, there is no ClickToRun in the

    \Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\

     directory

I also get 0 results when asking Window  to search for the file (with "show hidden show")

I tried searching here & elsewhere & I cannot find an explanation.

Thanks in advance if you have any suggestion.

Outlook 365 is working just fine now.
