in the "Type here to search" box on the Task Bar type > cmd   >choose run as an administrator.. paste the commands into Command Prompt box.

Hit the enter key on the keyboard after pasting each command line.

cd "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"

and then

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12827.20470

UPDATE:

Do nothing, wait.   See:

Microsoft is automatically propagating a fix.....  I am seeing it automatically patch some of my clients i had not fixed yet, that complained earlier..

As far as the datafile issue is concerned, I don't think that has anything to do with Outlook closing like everybody else is experiencing. I think that you just need to let it update fully and verify that Outlook is not closing before you associate that OST file or PST file. If Outlook is behaving appropriately without the files being associated then I think do your files will be just fine to open.

The main issue that everybody else is having is that as soon as Outlook is opened everything just closes within a few seconds afterwards. I think your issue maybe related to the same problem everybody else is having however I don't think it's the individual files that you are trying to attach to Outlook to open.

Oh great. That's what is happening to me today. I thought it was me because yesterday I did a clean install on a new computer.

I was able to set up Outlook with all my email accounts. But when I tried to attach a data file in which I have been storing a decade worth of notes it demanded a password. There has never been a password on that file. Any idea what that is about?

"Same problem here, tried to reconstruct, fail, download the whole office and reinstall, fail.  ....I don't have internet access sometimes when I am working and work offline."  Fail how?  Office does not open?

I dont think your issues are related to the Office/Windows Update issue, currently being automatically fixed with a MS patch....

Please consider starting a new question, as I fear your issue resolution will get lost within the thread...
