Outlook opens, then immediately closes

I just tried to update my dell desktop to Office 365, and now when i try to open Outlook, it immediately shuts down. clicking the outlook icon brings up https://outlook.live.com/mail/inbox but i don't want that. I want my traditional outlook. Help?

in the "Type here to search" box on the Task Bar type > cmd   >choose run as an administrator.. paste the commands into Command Prompt box.

Hit the enter key on the keyboard after pasting each command line.

cd "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"

and then

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12827.20470

UPDATE:

Microsoft is automatically propagating a fix.....  I am seeing it automatically patch some of my clients i had not fixed yet, that complained earlier..

    YEP...

    The MS folks really blew this one BIG TIME!!!

    Hopefully they will get this fixed soon.

    Not soon enough though.

    This is a total FUBAR on their part.

    Very, very bad.

    I am going to go for a beverage and hope when I get back a proper solution has been found by them.

    I guess though I will not be holding my breath.

    I am having the same issue since this morning.  Chat hasn't been able to help.  Been on chat for over two hours.  I have repaired, uninstalled, reinstalled but not working.  Word, Excel works but not OUTLOOK.

    No the same thing happens.  The blue box with the Outlook icon pops up in the middle of my screen and immediately disappears.  

    This just started happening around three hours ago.  I receive my att.net email through my Outlook, and my work calendar is on Outlook, and all of my Contacts and their phone numbers and my passwords for about three dozen insurance companie agent portals etc are all on my Outlook program.  I called a service I use ATT ConnecTech, and they failed to help either.  They claim it was a Microsoft Update that messed up everyone about one day ago.  I believe that to be true, becase Task Manager has a green leaf icon on Microsoft Outlook saying the program was suspended to improve performance.  So good old Microsoft has done it again with their Updates

    Now I can't function and help people with my work, because every single contact and password and message, etc is stored in my Microsoft Outlook and the program won't open.
