Option-Drag to copy an event in the new Outlook for Mac?

I like the look of the new Outlook for Mac. But the functionality of the Calendar seems to have lost a lot of things compared to the old Outlook.

  • I can't Option-drag a meeting to create a copy on another day or a new time (it's a standard way of doing things on a Mac and worked in the old Outlook)
  • I can't drag an event to another calendar in the section at left to move this event to this calendar.
  • When creating a new event, there's no option to change the reminder time for the event. I have to create the event, save it, open it again, go the event options, change the reminder and I still have to click on two buttons to save the change. Way too much trouble.

Am I missing a magic option somewhere?

I'm working from home on a Mac, connected to an enterprise version of O365 at my university.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for posting your issue on Microsoft Community. There are several features that aren't yet available in the new Outlook experience and some known issues such as Mail and events can't be moved or copied between accounts. However, our product team is investigating this issue in the new Outlook for Mac. You may switch back by turning off the New Outlook switch to avoid this issue.

For detailed information see under Features not yet available in the new Outlook for Mac/Known issues

Your time and understanding will be highly appreciated.

Best regards,

Shyamal

    Hi,

I just spent 30 minutes feeling silly trying to copy a calendar invite on Outlook for Mac. Now, I see this isn't a supported feature?

It looks like this pretty basic feature has been in the requested queue for two years.

    Can you offer an update?

    thanks

    Adam

The more I watch this feature languish for years without any real progress/commitment from MS, the more I believe that this thread is here only for us to vent and for MS to ignore. This serves no other purpose than to placate the masses and let them think they are doing something which MS would actually do something.

God forbid that they would be embarrassed to see their actual customers getting honest answers and real progress.

If MS cannot prioritize its actual customers (who have been requesting this feature on one platform that was already available in another, or for another version of Outlook), then they really don't CARE that their needs have been either been HEARD or acted on.

I switched back to the Classic mode. The changes and the missing features such as the easy calendar copy was an inefficiency as well as an annoyance.

I also disliked the disruption of flow of opening up a calendar invite and having to actually click an "edit" button whereas before I could easily make quick changes.

Category labels visually clutter up the visual of the inbox (labels compete with the From name and subject line).
