Outlook Connectors - Placeholder on some inbound emails

On some inbound emails I am receiving a banner above the email text that says Connectors - placeholder.  We have no idea what it is or why it's suddenly there starting this week.  Some emails have it and some don't.  Doesn't matter if they are internal company emails or external emails.

We've checked add-ins, social setting, etc and now been able to get this to go away.  It does now show up on the web or mobile, and doesn't show up in Sent messages either.

Any way to get rid of this?  It's super annoying and takes up unneeded space.

    We are also experiencing this issue last July 21.  As a workaround, open the message in a new window either by double-clicking the message or selecting "Open in new window" from the More actions (. . .) of the reading pane of the message that is showing the "connector - placeholder".

    This has been a good workaround for our folks experiencing this issue.

    Same issue using web in edge (chome-edge). Everything is up to date, email from one internal user, no attachments.

    I'm also having the same issue - it's driving me crazy! I can open the email once and then after that I get the 'connector-placeholder' box pop up and it never loads. I can get around it by opening the email in a new window but it's annoying!

    Go to Settings (cog icon) - View all Outlook Settings - Mail

    Scroll down to Sender Image and select radio button Don't Show Sender Images

    Logged out and logged back in.  No problem.

    I have done this - it worked!

    Same problem here just on OWA.  These placeholders also seem to be causing a delay in the downloading of the message. Sender images are OFF...this has no impact on the issue.
