I've been running the Office aps for quite a while, and this just started happening. Shortly after I ope Outlook, I get a message saying "There was a problem with Microsoft Office and your recent work might be lost." I have tried restrating the computer and also re-installing Office. I'm running OS 10.13.6 (the latest version that my old computer will support).

The first part of the error report is:

Thanks for the input, but that didn't work for me. Outlook still crashes after downloading that version and turning off auto update.

You will have to create a new profile, using the Outlook Profile Manager and set it as the Default profile. You cannot use your previous Outlook profiles. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/manage-profiles-or-identities-in-outlook-for-mac-fed2a955-74df-4a24-bef6-78a426958c4c

Downloading an older Outlook version and turning off auto update didn't work for me, neither did removing and adding a new Outlook profile. What helped for me was a complete uninstall and reinstall from the office website. That's a lot of manual steps, but it worked.
