I'm running OS 10.13.6 (the latest version that my old computer will support).

I do understand that, sir! Feel sorry for all this inconvenience!!!

By discussing with my team, so far the most effective method is to first update Mac OS and then update Office (the bug in a previous version gets fixed in 16.47 and later versions). See Outlook for Mac crashes unexpectedly on startup or during mail synchronization - Outlook (microsoft.com).

And would you please further try the following to see if it helps:

    1. Quit Outlook for Mac.
    2. Locate the following files:"~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Outlook/Data/Library/Preferences”
    3. Move these. plist files to Trash, but do not empty Trash and delete the files.
    4. Re-open Outlook, check whether the issue is resolved. If yes, you can delete the files mentioned above in Trash. Otherwise, please put the deleted files back to the old location.

    Thanks & Stay safe,

    Qian

Jim I understand where you are going with this, firstly if you read the forum you'll see it wasn't a Mac OS update that broke Outlook. This was an update that Microsoft pushed to a client of mine, in good faith he allowed Microsoft to install an Office update that they were recommending for his system...which he has done for the past 9yrs of using various Macs. This time it cost him more than he afford to give, it's like Microsoft just shot him in the head.

But like you say...he should have first put his bulletproof vest on that fateful morning before turning his MacBook on, it's all his fault.

    Qian,

look at the other posts, it is not a client side version issue!!! I have an old Mac that can't run the latest version and a brand new Mac running the latest and greatest. The both experience the same symptom at the same time. The thing they have in common is they are talking to the same server. My iPhone has no problems if that helps you diagnose the problem.

Send me the server side architecture diagrams and the server side change logs and I'l diagnose your problem.

PS I got a ticket raised for level 2, they didn't call back and simple closed the ticket.

And some of us also have to keep an "old" version because of internal software compatibility issues.

It's really a shame that Microsoft breaks previous versions and doesn't care about the consequences.

Having the same problem that the Outlook crashes for Mac 10.13.6 for Version 16.43.

Is there no solution nor any future date when it will be fixed? We just cannot go and upgrade the OS to 10.14.

I am surprised by the Microsoft support callousness in addressing the issue as most of us have raised the issue.

Hope some one is noticing the same.
