Hi Zeal,

Glad to help you here. Along with the “Categories” option, Microsoft Outlook for Android will also get a new floating action menu to help you quickly access a few essential features. You will be able to access the menu by tapping and holding the compose button. You will be able to access the menu by tapping and holding the compose button.

The upcoming “Categories” feature on Microsoft Outlook for Android will allow users to group emails, events, and contacts based on customizable categories. Once released, the feature will show up as a new “Categories” option in the app settings.

Tapping on this option will open a new page, which will include a couple of predefined categories and a button to add a custom category. When you tap on any of these predefined categories, you will see a pop-up that will let you change the category name and color. However, it isn’t clear how these categories will be displayed in the inbox. So you may update the Outlook at first to have a try whether it could work or not.

Hope that this answers your concern. If you have any questions about this issue or I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to reply and I will answer for you. Thank you very much.

Regards,

Rebecca

Does anyone know how to raise the profile of this issue, or draw further attention to it?

I've followed it for over 6 months and whilst I see plenty of people, like me, frustrated that despite clearly being looked at over a year ago, there remains an absence of usable categories functionality in the mobile app (I have to process my emails in the desktop app to reference them the way I want to using categories).

Yet, even though every week, another person posts here, asking the same question, no one representing Microsoft has since September 2021.

I don't know if this is the right place, if Microsoft monitors it, or if they just don't care, but if anyone knows somewhere else we could raise it to at least be on a road map, I'd be grateful.

Any updates on this? When can we expect categories to be part of the outlook app?

    Dear MS Android devOps,

It has been far too long since the option has been introduced and no way to implement it.

    Does anyone care?
