Hi Zeal,

Glad to help you here. Along with the “Categories” option, Microsoft Outlook for Android will also get a new floating action menu to help you quickly access a few essential features. You will be able to access the menu by tapping and holding the compose button. You will be able to access the menu by tapping and holding the compose button.

The upcoming “Categories” feature on Microsoft Outlook for Android will allow users to group emails, events, and contacts based on customizable categories. Once released, the feature will show up as a new “Categories” option in the app settings.

Tapping on this option will open a new page, which will include a couple of predefined categories and a button to add a custom category. When you tap on any of these predefined categories, you will see a pop-up that will let you change the category name and color. However, it isn’t clear how these categories will be displayed in the inbox. So you may update the Outlook at first to have a try whether it could work or not.

Hope that this answers your concern. If you have any questions about this issue or I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to reply and I will answer for you. Thank you very much.

Regards,

Rebecca

+1 to asking MS to push up the delivery time on this feature. Categories can be created and colored in the app still as of this post, BUT NOT assigned or filtered, or displayed. This is why MS is loosing ground in a mobile-device ecosystem. You don't make your features available for mobile users. It is obvious MS knows about categories, because this limited display of the idea is in the android app. But why take up the programming and storage space for a feature that can't be implemented by the user?!

    Please make categories usable!!

I can't believe after all this time Microsoft still has not added this feature into the app. It's great you can see the categories and modify them in the app but it would be even better to be able to apply them to emails on the mobile app. Looks like Microsoft doesn't run a balanced scorecard on their business model, nobody seems to reply or even acknowledge their customers.
