Hi Zeal,

Glad to help you here. Along with the “Categories” option, Microsoft Outlook for Android will also get a new floating action menu to help you quickly access a few essential features. You will be able to access the menu by tapping and holding the compose button. You will be able to access the menu by tapping and holding the compose button.

The upcoming “Categories” feature on Microsoft Outlook for Android will allow users to group emails, events, and contacts based on customizable categories. Once released, the feature will show up as a new “Categories” option in the app settings.

Tapping on this option will open a new page, which will include a couple of predefined categories and a button to add a custom category. When you tap on any of these predefined categories, you will see a pop-up that will let you change the category name and color. However, it isn’t clear how these categories will be displayed in the inbox. So you may update the Outlook at first to have a try whether it could work or not.

Hope that this answers your concern. If you have any questions about this issue or I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to reply and I will answer for you. Thank you very much.

Regards,

Rebecca

Yes I have read them all, going back several years.

Don't assume when you don't know what you're talking about. I read others complaining just like you.

I chose to stay positive and simply state the facts; what I can do and what I would like to do.

Hopefully we'll get it someday. It would be great to have the feature now but it's not the end of the world without it.

    Have a great day

    Hello,

This problem is still not resolved.

Categories customized in the Outlook Windows app doesnt sync with Outlook Andoid apps. The renamed category or the new category doesnt appear the same in Andoid app from Windows app. Moreover, already categorized emails in the Windows app does not show the category in the Android app.

I am not sure whether anybody else is facing the same problem. I would like to note that the gmail account is used in the Outlook in my case. Probably, the replication of categories from Outlook to Gmail doesnt function properly. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Raghavendra Hegde

Yep, same for me. I can see the option to categorise appointments but not yet emails. I'm on Android too. At least it suggests the intent to develop the functionality is there. I was worried it had dropped off the radar entirely. My fingers are crossed!

It's just a shame no one from Microsoft can confirm that it is coming and indicate a timeframe.
