Office Ribbon Too Big -- not a display resolution issue

All Office application display the menus, ribbons, sidebars as way too large.

It is not an issue where going to Settings->Display->Scale & Layout, setting to 100% will fix it. I already have that set. I have also toggled the 'When using multiple displays options' several times within Office applications settings.

Everything else is just great with my display. All text within the viewing panes of Office applications is fine. For instance, in Outlook, the ribbon is huge, the sidebar is huge, I can only see about 4 emails at a time listed. However, where it displays a full email on the right, that text is just fine. If I lower the zoom level it gets too small to read. Also that zoom level does not affect the size of the ribbon or side bar. Same issue in Excel. Ribbon is huge, but the cells of the spreadsheet are normal size.

The file explorer menus and ribbon also display fine. All other non-office applications display fine.

It was working fine. I must have pressed some button inadvertently which increased the size of these items. Or maybe it was because I temporarily hooked my laptop up to a different monitor.

This done it for me.  The caveat to remember I guess is that browser zoom size is per tab (at least on Chrome).  And it stores the zoom size for next time.

So if you adjust the wrong tab zoom it wont fix the page.

Jared.  Thank you.  I went ahead to use a different browser on my W10 desktop instead of Chrome.  I used the W10's MS Edge browser to go to my Outlook.com's Excel web-app and YESSSS I now have a more normal looking page with regular sized ribbons and icons and the worksheet.

It is so much more manageable now... :)

It is disappointing that the Chrome-app is tab-dependent for any adjustments.  Sigh...  Nice catch Jared!  Thank you.

I have exactly the same problem when viewing files through Sharepoint links shared with others using the internet browser. I tried this workaround.

Login to Microsoft Office 365 Sharepoint.

At the sharepoint page, press Ctrl & scroll the roller on the mouse (up or down) to adjust the viewing page size.

The ribbon /bar on top should change in size.

Now click the file you want to view. The ribbon should match the size you adjusted earlier.
