Office Ribbon Too Big -- not a display resolution issue

All Office application display the menus, ribbons, sidebars as way too large.

It is not an issue where going to Settings->Display->Scale & Layout, setting to 100% will fix it. I already have that set. I have also toggled the 'When using multiple displays options' several times within Office applications settings.

Everything else is just great with my display. All text within the viewing panes of Office applications is fine. For instance, in Outlook, the ribbon is huge, the sidebar is huge, I can only see about 4 emails at a time listed. However, where it displays a full email on the right, that text is just fine. If I lower the zoom level it gets too small to read. Also that zoom level does not affect the size of the ribbon or side bar. Same issue in Excel. Ribbon is huge, but the cells of the spreadsheet are normal size.

The file explorer menus and ribbon also display fine. All other non-office applications display fine.

It was working fine. I must have pressed some button inadvertently which increased the size of these items. Or maybe it was because I temporarily hooked my laptop up to a different monitor.

    Ok I finally found a solution that worked for me.

    The problem arouse after an update and involved all the offices app.

    Makes no sense but have a try:

    • Desktop --> Display settings
    • Search for "Make text size bigger" and click

    You probably have the "Make text bigger" already at minimum value, nonetheless enhance it (105% or something like that)Image

    • Apply
    • Now it should be back working, is it? Now you can come back at 100% and it's going to be displayed properly.

    **Edit: Try to restart one of the application affected, if opened

    This happened too me and so I contacted Microsoft support. The fix is too change the TEXT size under Settings>Accessibility>Text size, change it too something larger then click apply, then you can change it back too 100% size and click apply. All of your icons will be normal and the in like , office, edge etc. will be fixed as well. Restart for changes too take effect or just restart the PC.

    This is the only fix that worked for me - tried all the above. Thank you!

    You are quite welcome! As far as Microsoft's apparent ignorance to this issue, you got me. But this is not the first time I have ran into their inability to come up with a resolution, and it probably won't be the last.

    Exact same issue and my IT group can't figure it out. Just hooked new laptop up to these monitors and same thing is happening. The ribbons in outlook, excel, etc. look HUGE. When I use a browser on those screens everything is normal. Can anyone help?!
